Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • I'm wondering why the manual for the WOSPORTS G100 Trail Camera says that the use of NiMH rechargeable batteries is not recommended. Can you explain? (I know the voltage of NiMH batteries is lower, but for a lot of devices, including my old digital cameras that used AA batteries, NiMH batteries work fine.) Thanks for any information that you can give.

Thank you for reaching out with your question about the WOSPORTS G100 Trail Camera. You are correct that NiMH rechargeable batteries typically have a lower voltage (1.2V) compared to standard alkaline batteries (1.5V). While NiMH batteries often work well in many devices, there are specific reasons why they may not be recommended for use in our trail cameras:

Lower Voltage: The G100 trail camera is designed to work optimally with 1.5V AA batteries (like standard alkaline batteries). NiMH batteries, which have a nominal voltage of 1.2V, can cause the camera to perform below its intended capacity, potentially leading to issues like lower performance, shorter battery life, or failure to power the camera properly.

Battery Drain & Efficiency: Trail cameras, particularly those used for outdoor surveillance, require a reliable power source that can last for extended periods in various environmental conditions. NiMH batteries tend to have a lower energy density compared to alkaline batteries, meaning they may need to be replaced or recharged more frequently, especially in cold or remote locations. This could lead to more frequent maintenance and potentially missed recordings.

Temperature Sensitivity: NiMH batteries are also more sensitive to cold temperatures, and their performance can degrade more quickly in colder weather. This can be a significant factor when using the trail camera outdoors in varying weather conditions.

While NiMH batteries can work in some cases, we recommend using high-quality alkaline batteries for the best performance and reliability, especially for long-term field use where battery life and consistent performance are critical.

We hope this explanation helps, and we appreciate your understanding. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to reach out to our customer support team.
